Chapter 7:  CloseBy Network Roles & Responsibilities

Care Network Manager

As the Care Network Manager, you are the only person that has this responsibility (unless you request help). There is only one assigned Care Network Manager in your care network. You are now that person. Your dealer was the first assigned Care Network Manager. The dealer remains the Care Network Manager until the Network is set up and running. The dealer then turns responsibility over to you. The dealer can still assist you until you decide that you no longer require help.
You can request help from your dealer or from a member of the CloseBy support staff. If you do request help, and allow either both or one to have access to your Care Network, then they will be able to see and do everything that you, as the Care Network Manager, can do. Your CloseBy Network has been designed for privacy. To assist you with this privacy you will be warned each time you log into the network, alerting you that you’ve given someone else (e.g., CloseBy Support, dealer, etc.) the ability to view your network. This help request will remain in effect until YOU turn off Support Access.
CloseBy Network recommends that you turn off this help request as soon as you feel comfortable in using the system to ensure that your Care Network remains private. Not even CloseBy Support Personnel will be able to see your data and assist you until you decide to request their help again.

As Care Network Manager you have three primary responsibilities:

  1. To add and remove Members (Network Participants) to your CloseBy Network
  2. To create and organize Groups
  3. To assign one, Information Manager to your Care Network from your member list. The Information Manager controls all access to "who" in the network can see "what" information (example assigning of all Access Rights for sensors in your network). As Care Network Manager you can assign yourself to be the Information Manager, too, if you so desire, but only one person can be the Information Manager at a time.

As a secondary responsibility, you can also modify and edit how all Members see things on the screen (e.g., hiding sensors and sensor elements, naming the network and the sensors, etc.). In most situations, your dealer will set up these things for you when the network was created.
As the Network Manager you can add, remove, and manage network members, groups, modules, and networks. You can then organize your network Members into Groups. Data access rights can be assigned by Groups and by individual Members.

Information Manager

As the Information Manager, you are the only person who has this responsibility. The Information Manager is assigned by the Care Network Manager. You control all access to “who” in the network can see “what” information. If you’ve been assigned the role of Information Manager, you are most likely the Primary Caregiver with day-to-day responsibility for monitoring your loved one’s status. As the Information Manager, you have two primary responsibilities:

Care Network Member

As a Care Network Member, your Information Manager gives you access to data on your loved one’s CloseBy Network. Your access to network sensor data is controlled by the Information Manager. Dependent upon this access, you may have permission to both view sensor data and export the sensor data as reports. If you have any questions about your network permissions, you can contact your Information Manager and/or Care Network Manager.
