Viewing and Changing Your CloseBy Network

Depending on your CloseBy Network setup, you may have multiple CloseBy Networks that you’re monitoring (e.g., a parent’s main home and a parent’s vacation home). Once you’ve logged in, you can switch between your CloseBy Networks. To switch between your CloseBy Networks, complete the following steps:

On the Home page, you’ll find the CloseBy Networks drop down box in the left column. Click the down arrow to display your CloseBy Networks.

Select the CloseBy Network you wish to access. Your screen will refresh to show you system details.

CloseBy Network Video Options

Your CloseBy Network can support a video feed option. You can add video cameras if seeing your loved one will help improve the quality of care you provide. Check with your dealer for availability and pricing.


My Settings Tab

Clicking on the My Settings tab will detail options for Notifications, Customer Support, Messages, My Profile, and Reports. This section will give you an overview of these features.

What are Notifications?

Notifications alert you when a defined set of conditions happen or do not happen. For example, when a door opens you can set up a notification to send an email letting someone (e.g., you, neighbor, etc.) know that it occurred. If the motion sensor outside of the bedroom has not seen any activity by 9 a.m. in the morning, a notification can be sent. Notifications can be either emails or text messages to your cell phone.

Currently, the CloseBy Network offers two notification types: Quick Notifications (meaning quick and easy to set up), or Custom Notifications (meaning you have a lot of control how the notification operates). You can select either notification type by clicking on its tab.

Quick Notifications: A quick notification allows you to set up a notification for simple events using preconfigured messages. You select from preconfigured email or text message destinations based on when a sensor opens or closes. For example, when there is motion detected in the kitchen, you can send an alert to your cell phone. The message content that is sent to your cell phone is preconfigured by the system.

Custom Notifications: A custom notification allows you more flexibility in messaging. For example, you can configure a notification to be sent to your email address when motion is detected in the kitchen between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Monday mornings. Or you can set up an alert to be sent if there is NO motion detected between these hours.

You can also define what content is sent in the alert. For example, you can send a text message to your phone that says, "It is Monday morning at 8 a.m. No motion has been detected in Grandma Ann's kitchen—maybe you should call her." Custom Notifications give you flexibility, but more configuring is required.

Each notification that you set up can be turned on or off individually. So you can set up and define many notifications for different circumstances, leaving them turned off until you need them. From the Notification Control tab, you can also turn every notification off all at once. This is helpful if you go to visit and you are at the residence with no need to receive notifications while on site.

Customer Support

Sometimes you may need help with your CloseBy Network. As a valued customer, we want to make your experience with the CloseBy Network go as smoothly as possible. That’s why we have three different ways to get support. We recommend first that you read this manual. It’s often the best way to get the answers you need.
If you’re still having trouble, you’ll find the contact information for the following individuals by clicking on My Settings > CloseBy Support:

  • Care Network Manager, contact information is located in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.
  • CloseBy Network Dealer, contact information is listed in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.
  • Contact CloseBy Network for support, via e-mail at support@closebynet.com, or via phone at 801-748-4900 X15

In order to receive direct help with your CloseBy Network from your dealer or CloseBy Network support, your Care Network Manager or Information Manager will need to turn on Support Access. When this access is turned on, you’ll see “Support Access is On!” in the upper right corner.

Sharing Information via CloseBy Messages

The CloseBy Network allows you to send messages to other system members. To access messages, go to My Settings > Messages. Under Messages, you’ll have access to Current Messages, Saved Messages, and Message Notifications.

Current Messages:  When you’ve selected the Current Messages tab, you can send a new message and also see any current messages in your network. From the Current Messages tab, you can also create a message, delete a note, respond and save a message, respond to a user, and save a message.

To create a message, complete the following steps (note: you can create a message using the same steps in Saved Messages, too):

Click the Create Message button at the bottom of the page. This action opens a message window. In the To: field, you can select a message recipient from your Care Network’s “To:” drop down box. Once you’ve added a subject and message text, click Send to mail your message or Close to cancel your message.

Saved Messages:  When you’ve selected the Saved Messages tab, you can view any messages you’ve chosen to save and send a new message. From the Saved Messages tab, you can also create a message, delete a note, and respond to a user.

Message Notifications:  When you’ve selected the Message Notifications tab, you can create notifications to alert you when you receive specific types of messages. For instance, if you’ve added a doctor to your CloseBy Care Network, you might want to know right away if the doctor has posted a message for you. To add a Message Notification, complete the following steps:

On the Message Notification tab, click Add. 

Under message details, you can customize your notification by communication type (e.g., email or text message) and whether the notification is enabled or disabled.

Click Save  to confirm your Message Notification.

NOTE:  These notifications can be deleted by selecting the notification and clicking Remove.

Accessing and Customizing My Profile

My Profile gives you access to your personal information stored in the CloseBy Network. In My Profile, you can manage the information seen below:

To access My Profile, click My Settings and select My Profile. Once you’ve added or changed any of your profile information, click Save  at the bottom of the screen.

NOTE:  In My Profile, you can reset your password and update where you want notifications sent.

Reports

Your CloseBy Network provides the option to send activity reports from your Care Network. Refer to Chapter 8 for more information on CloseBy Network Reports.
