Chapter 11: Information Manager
Granting Support Access in your CloseBy Network
If your Care Network Manager has designated you the Information Manager, you can receive additional, direct help with your CloseBy Network from either your dealer of record or from CloseBy Network Support. In order to receive this support, you will need to grant access to your care network by turning on Support Access in your CloseBy Network. To do this, complete the following steps:
- Select Info Manager>Summary in the left sidebar.

- On the right, above the largest window, you’ll see these check box options:
[Graphics: Task21.2 – Chick here to ALLOW MY DEALER, centered]

- If you check the first box, your Dealer of Record will have access to your CloseBy Network.
- If you check the second box, CloseBy Support will have access to your CloseBy Network.
- To activate the support access, click the Apply button.
- If you’ve checked either option, you’ll see “Support Access is ON!” in the upper right of your screen each time you login.
Managing Access Rights in your CloseBy Network
If you’re the Information Manager for your CloseBy Network, you can manage who sees sensor data. You can control access in several ways: By Module, By Member, and By Group. CloseBy recommends managing network access By Group. It’s the most efficient way to control who sees your CloseBy Network data.
By Group
To manage access By Group, select Info Manager>By Group.
You can then modify access by network sensor groups.
By Module
To manage access By Module, select Info Manager>By Module.

You can then choose which sensor to modify.
By Member
To manage access By Member, select Info Manager>By Member.
You can then modify access by network member.

Access Modification: Changing Member Access by Individual Sensor
To change who can see data related to individual sensors, complete the following steps:
- Select Info Manager>By Module. A drop-down list of all sensors in your network will appear. Select the sensor you wish to modify access to (e.g., Temp Laundry Room Door).

- In the right window (Access Rights tab), you’ll see a window similar to the one below:
- For each sensor, you can:
- Add it to an existing Group (e.g., Sensor group) so you can manage the sensor By Group. You can choose whether sensor data can be viewed and/or exported as a member of a Group
- Under Exceptions, adjust access rights by member, including whether a member follows a Group’s rules, always has access, or is always denied access.
Note: If you select “Always Grant Access” or “Always Deny Access” for individual members, you’re giving access rights for that particular sensor to that specific individual that will trump the rights assigned as a member of a Group.
- To modify any of these access rights by member, select the option circle for the particular member.
- As noted on the screen, when you alter any access rights, the changes are saved automatically. To see them updated on the page, click the Refresh Now button in the upper right corner.
Access Modification: Changing Member Access by Individual Care Network Member
To change who can see sensors by Care Network Member, complete the following steps:
- Select Info Manager>By Member. You’ll then see a list of members by Last Name, First Name, and Login.

- In the right window under the Access Rights tab, click the “+” next to the member name to edit an individual member’s sensor access.
- To view the available network sensors, click the “+” next to Sensors. You’ll then see a screen like the one below:

- To modify any of these access rights by sensor, select the option circle for the particular sensor.
Note: If you select “Always Grant Access” or “Always Deny Access” for individual members, you’re giving access rights for that particular sensor to that specific individual that will trump the rights assigned as a member of a Group.
- When you alter any access rights, the changes are saved automatically. To see them on the page, click the Refresh Now button in the upper right corner.
Access Modification: Changing Sensor Access by Group
To change sensor data access by groups, complete the following steps:
- Select Info Manager>By Group.

- Choose the group you want to manage.
- When you’ve selected your group, you’ll see a screen in the main window that looks like the one below:

- For each sensor, check or uncheck the boxes for View Data or Export Data.
- At the bottom of each sensor group is a list of members in the group. Contact your Care Network Manager to modify group membership.
NOTE: Group settings apply to all network members of the group. You can change individual sensor data access By Member [link to help topic: Group Access Modification: Changing Member Access by Individual Network Member] and By Individual Sensor [link to help topic: Changing Member Access by Individual Sensor]. Changing by member or sensor allows you to make exceptions to groups while still maintaining the ease of group definition.
